What I like about my online self-employment

For many years I have been able to live online self-employment off my own websites and blogs alone. Which is certainly the dream of many.

The first few years were not easy, but even then I didn’t want to do anything else. I really appreciate the advantages of being self-employed and especially of online business.

Of the above points, the following 3 are most important to me:

You can do what you are interested

That’s my top priority. I can do exactly what interests me and what I enjoy. It was a little different when I was doing web design jobs for clients.

I no longer do anything for clients, but work exclusively on my own projects, and of course I only do what really interests me.

personal responsibility and self-determination

This point is closely related to the previous one. I don’t like real cell phone numbers being controlled by others at all and it demotivates me completely. On the other hand, now, especially after I stopped my web design business. I really appreciate that I am solely responsible for where I go and what I do.

I wouldn’t want it any other way today, which is why I can no longer imagine a job, no matter what other advantages it would bring.

More or less passive income

My own websites and blogs have enabled me to build up a variety of sources of income. This not only means that I can earn money even. When I’m not working, but it also means that I can earn more than if I were to carry out customer orders 1:1.

Of course, there is no such thing as 100% passive learning copywriting with courses income online and, especially with blogs, it took years to build them up before they started making good money, but I have now built up quite a bit and am profiting from it in the long term. I prefer that much, much more than thinking from customer order to customer order and hoping that they pay their bills promptly.

What is less important to me?

As a father, other things are not so important to me, such as “free time management”. I go to work after I have taken them to school and I finish work when they are back home in the afternoon.

I also never placed much value on being “location independent”. Of loan data course it was good to be able to work from home for the first 8 years or so before I moved to an external office in 2015. But going to a cafe or working on the beach was never my thing. I need my office. But of course everyone is different here.
