Google Business Profiles (formerly Google My Business) is a very democratic tool , like all social channels, if we want to consider it an atypical Google social network .
Democratic in the sense that it is a free channel for information, promotion and contact with customers and users, but also that it can have a great positive economic impact both for large companies (retail first and foremost) and for small local businesses, even those managed by a single person, at zero cost.
In fact, we are talking about a totally free channel – we remind you – that does not require advertising investments, therefore it is also accessible to personal micro-businesses .
In today’s article we illustrate some possibilities for automatically managing your Google Business profile (or Google Maps tab / Google Business Profile).
With these automatisms applicable by anyone, we bring the management of Business Profiles to a new level, much more interactive and useful in terms of marketing, without investing time. All automatic!
Marketing Automations for Google Business Profiles: The Most Useful
Marketing Automations for Google Business Profiles: The Most Useful
We are talking about marketing automation actions applied to Google My Business for the purposes of communication, post-selling and review management , statistics monitoring, even advertising campaign optimization and – in general – customer care.
These actions can be programmed using tools that are partly free and partly paid, such as Zapier or IFTTT (but there are others), which can be connected to social channels, email, email marketing tools, Google Ads, Google Drive, etc.

Schedule automatic responses to revie
Scheduling automatic responses for each review received , based on a series of parameters that can be set, is one of the main actions that can be automated.
For example, you can automatically start a standard response on 5-star reviews.
But you can set different responses based on the rating received (so also 1 star, 2 stars, etc).
time saving;
caring towards customers;
collecting feedback from customers with a view to improving the service or products.
Automatic image posting
You can automatically publish to your Google Business Profiles images that have been published on your official Instagram channel, or on your Facebook fan page , or for example all images that are uploaded to a specific Google Drive folder.
Schedule automatic responses to reviews
This allows for a great saving of time and a constant insertion of new content – very significant – because images are the first thing that users look at when they arrive on your Google business card (especially if consulted via Google Maps, from mobile).
Objectives:
automatic generation of new content for Google My Business;
time saving;
“sales stimulation”: images can convince users to visit the store or to book.
Publish the reviews received on Google on your Facebook page
The reverse path is also possible, that is, using the contents of Google cards to enrich the social editorial plan , for example on Facebook.
Posting positive reviews is always a very strong element, of great appeal to users: it is a very credible social proof, which tends to convince many potential customers.
We can also automatically publish such positive reviews using the tools listed above.
Objectives:
content creation for other social networks, starting from the reviews received on Google;
“social proof”, in a commercial perspective
Google My Business and Google Ads Integration
A couple of very interesting “joint ventures” between Google profiles and Google Ads :
Update / send offline conversion data to Google Ads for each review received! This is a very advanced automation, for those who have active campaigns in Google Ads: it allows you to provide Google Ads with additional data to optimize the campaigns , obviously based on customers (in this case offline customers).
Similarly, these offline contacts can be used to update customer lists that can always be used by Google Ads – anonymously – for retargeting purposes or to identify new user segments to activate in the various active campaigns.
Objectives:
Publish the reviews received on Google o the Facebook page
Leverage all data (offline and online) in a multi-channel perspective, with the aim of maximizing the yield of highly effective Google Ads campaigns.
Automatic update of statistical reports
There are several important statistics that Google profiles can leave you about your business, for example…
…how many people asked for directions to your store, how many phone calls , reservations and messages you received, how many clicks to your website came from the Google listing, etc.
These are all items that you can find under the “ Performance ” heading in the former Google My Business.
performance statistics report google my business profiles google business
Some of the items that can be found in the Performance section in Google My Business: you can find very useful data on the strategic side. Also interesting are the details of local searches that bring visits to your business: a gold mine of information in terms of SEO Local .
These statistics can be collected automatically , in a constantly updated manner, in a Google Drive Sheet through an automation that must be set up only once (for example with the Zapier tool).
This allows you to have always up-to-date statistics at your fingertips, numbers that can then be organized into graphs, with one click thanks to Google Sheets.

Integrations between Google My Business and Google Ads
Collect useful data for strategic and decision-making purposes, because “a person without data is just a person with opinions”!
Sending automatic questionnaires to dissatisfied customers
Automatically send surveys to users who leave reviews less than 5 out of 5 stars, for example.
This allows you to automate the collection of useful business information to improve products and services, as well as show your customers how much you care about improving the service/product provided.
Objectives:
customer care towards dissatisfied customers;
improving products and services.
Automated to-do list and memo compilation
A classic automatable feature is the composition of the classic “to do or to remember list”: you can automatically create “to do lists” as memos to remind you to respond to the reviews you receive, for example.
Sending automatic questionnaires to dissatisfied customers
These are lists and memos that telegram database users material can also be integrated into Google Calendar, but they can also be inserted into Google Tasks, Slack or communicated via SMS or private messages on Facebook and X (Twitter).
Or via email with a summary of all the reviews received that await a response.
Objectives:
summarize and remember reviews that have not yet been responded to.
Automation and integrations with Artificial Intelligence
There are also integrations withChatGPT(via Zapier). For example, it is possible to automatically send the reviews received to ChatGPT, for various purposes:
create a response to the specific review received;
update a response to an existing review;
analyze the overall sentiment of the review received, based on the analysis of the review text.
We also tried to askGoogle Bard, as an experiment, to see if it could already work and integrate with Google My Business, both being Google tools.
Automatisms for compiling to-do lists and memos
Bard’s response immediately seemed bt lists very positive, it made us dream, even if in reality the outcome was not what we had hoped for.
His response, in fact, is based on text suggestions or text reviews/writing, not on real integrations that would have allowed us to bypass third-party tools like Zapier and IFTTT.
Below is Bard’s answer to our question.

Marketing Automation on Google My Business: Conclusions
There are other marketing automation activities applicable to Google My Business, less useful in my opinion , such as interactions with your Gmail (notification, archiving, labels), text formatting and integrations with other Apps or using the Google Business Profiles APIs.
In general, however, if your business is a Retail business , if the core of your business is in one or more offline sales points and/or if you have little time or want to optimize a series of actions in Google My Business, my opinion is that it makes sense to experiment with these automations and keep the favorite ones active, which can really make the difference.
