The NOS response

The NOS not only participates in tracking visitors and sharing that data with advertising networks, but also operates in a gray area when it comes to processing and sharing personal data without clear prior consent from the visitor.

I ask NOS for a response a week ago. A spokesperson promis to get back to me, but that had not happen a week later. Today I contact NOS again by phone and they respond shortly before publication of this article:

Chartbeat has inform us that they do not collect personally identifiable information. The last digits of the user’s IP address are convert to zeros to anonymize the data.

Unfortunately this cannot be check, as is possible with other analytical software

Furthermore, Chartbeat’s privacy conditions refer to IP addresses without the addition that NOS now provides: “Chartbeat does collect IP  australia database directory addresses from visitors to Customer Websites in order to show geolocation information.” I trust that NOS has check this properly, but it remains difficult for a visitor to find the correct information about the use of Chartbeat by NOS. The Chartbeat cookie is list on the NOS cookie page in the category ‘Other’, of which NOS itself states that ” how do you use the insta highlights? leave a comment! personal data may be process”. No opt-out option is offer. Rubicon shares this

Regarding Comscore, NOS says:

Furthermore, the NPO has enter into an agreement with Comscore which stipulates that the data collect on the public broadcasting site will only be us for analysis for the benefit of the public broadcaster.
